This secretary belonged to my grandparents, and it was in the living room at my parents’ home. I have loved it for a long time. When my momma gave it to me I was thrilled! I moved it to our home, and I realized there wasn’t any room for it in the traditional places you would expect to find a secretary.

Family history means a lot to me, and I love using handed down pieces in my decor.  I was determined to find a home for it!   We had an unusual nook in our bathroom, and I knew it would fit there, but a secretary in the bathroom seemed to break all the rules of decorating.  I decided that I was OK with being a rule breaker in this case, so I put it there anyway.  It turned out to be the perfect spot for it!  It’s a beautiful piece that adds warmth and interest to our otherwise run-of-the-mill bathroom.  It’s also functional because it adds much needed storage.  

Don’t be afraid to break the rules in your home!  These are the things that make your home uniquely yours.
